“And Jesus grew in wisdom, stature and favor with God and men.” Luke 2:52 The Mission of the Children’s Ministry at SCC is to build a strong spiritual foundation by guiding children and parents to discover a personal relationship with Christ. Our Vision is to develop a partnership with parents in laying a spiritual foundation that will lead a child into a strong relationship with Christ. LIFE Studies 252 Kids LIFE Studies is a focused time for kids to learn biblical truths and biblical principles taught by outstanding, Christ-centered volunteers who are committed to the spiritual development of each child. Our goal is to follow Christ’s example for a growing child - Luke 2:52 “and Jesus grew in wisdom, stature and favor with God and men.” Your child is taught three core Biblical truths:
1. I need to make the WISE CHOICE...so I will... · Trust and follow JESUS. · Spend time getting to know GOD. · Do what GOD says. · Discover GOD'S unique plan for my life... 2. I can TRUST GOD no matter what...because... · He is my CREATOR. · He is my FATHER. · He is my GUIDE. · He is my SAVIOR 3. I should TREAT OTHERS the way I want to be TREATED...so I can... · Show God's love to those AROUND me. · Care enough to put others BEFORE me. · Respect those God puts OVER me. · Be the right friend to those BESIDE me. Our LIFE Studies groups are divided according to grade level in order to help build a close group of peers. We meet on Sunday mornings at 9:00am. Vital LIFE University Bible Drill – Sunday Evenings 5:00 – 6:30pm Bible Drill is an absolutely awesome program that teaches children to hide God's Word in their hearts. Children 1st-6th grade are eligible to participate. We participate in Church, Associational and State level Drills each year. The purpose of the drill is to help children: · Increase in knowledge of the Bible · Develop skills in locating Bible books and key passages · Memorize the names of the books of the Bible in order plus selected Bible verses and key biblical passages · Learn how to apply the Bible to their lives
Kids Praise – Wednesdays Evenings 6:15 – 7:30pm Kids Praise is an interactive experience that teaches kids to praise God through the ARTS - music, drama, art, and movement. We have several performances throughout each year not only in our church but in our community as well. Security At Simonton Community Church, the safety of your child is a high priority. We pay special attention to not only our building and volunteers, but our check-in/check-out procedures as well. When you check-in your child, you will be provided with a name tag for your child and a corresponding pick-up tag. When you return to gather your children, please present the pick-up tag to the teacher. Why Parents Matter At SCC The most important influence in a child’s life is his/her parents. The Church’s level of influence actually comes in third—similar to that of a counselor or extended family member. Unfortunately our complicated and busy lives combined with competition from TV, Internet, peers and schools can often cause moms and dads to give up and trust the Church to take care of their kids’ spiritual development. “The Church” has reinforced this idea that parents should leave spiritual training to the children’s ministry “experts” by separating family members to their own age groups as soon as they walk through the church doors. There’s not a sense that the church and family are a seamless team with the same goals. When picking their kids up, parents are usually satisfied if their child has simply learned a little about the Bible and been well behaved during church. And what we expect is often all we get. But God wants so much more for our children, and so do we. We desire to partner with and equip parents to be the spiritual guides in their children’s lives.
